The Elk , once found all over the United States and southern Canada, now live only in the Rocky Mountains. They live in herds, feeding on vegetation in the lower valleys during winter and moving to higher elevations in the spring. In the early fall the bulls with antlers that spread more than five feet fight for leadership of the herd.
